Attitude
“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”
This was not a good time to run out of Black Cohosh. First…I do not understand the way supplements are arranged at any of the fine retailers near me. I ordered some BC on Amazon, but it won’t arrive for another two weeks (!)…I can only surmise that there is a run on Black Cohosh by a throng of menopausal people. Back to the retailers…there are multiple brands, of course, and it appears that the bottles are arranged alphabetically…but how does one go from B12 to Biotin to Vitamin C and not leave room for BC? I looked through maybe four different brands, Vitamin A to Zinc…I found things for Libido and hair loss, for weight loss and for UTIs…then I caught sight of a little collection of things “just for men.” It occurred to me that there might be a little spot “just for women” as well. Lower shelf, tucked in a corner…there is a wee collection of supplements to help address menopausal symptoms…like hot flashes. Seriously, people…those supplements should have pride of place and a foot rub thrown in when you buy them. It is hard enough to wake up each morning and do that mental inventory looking for ‘Rona symptoms…but when you run out of BC and the hot flashes that have been at bay for awhile come roaring back…one should NOT have to get on their hands and knees to locate a dusty bottle of BC is all I’m saying. COULD I have planned better and ordered my new bottle sooner? Yes. AM I accustomed to Prime Delivery and Instant Gratification. Yes. So what if I am. Hot flashes make me irritable. Tread carefully.
And then I come to school and get an email from the tech folks…Schoology is down. Just SPIFFY. So. I cast about looking for something to adjust my attitude and found that quote…I can only do what I can do. I have taken my BC for today (thank goodness I only missed one day). I have taken several deep breaths and done a little yoga. If Schoology is down…I can grade later. If Zoom goes down…I’ll send the kids an email. It’s okay. Breathe. Let the shoulders come back to where they are meant to be, and not up around my ears.
I can definitely control my attitude. Here goes.
