Dress Rehearsal

All the Upper and Middle School teachers are here on campus.

It has been wonderful to pass by the classrooms of my friends and see their sweet faces (well, half of them, anyway). It feels verboten to stand in the hallway to catch up, but I’ve done it a couple of times anyway, and it has been so good.

We are all here to test the bandwidth to see if the equipment can handle the traffic once we are back at school doing a hundred Zoom calls. So very SciFy.

I am tense, but happy as I move through the day. It feels odd to have other energy besides my own coursing through the hallways. I did have a little shock today. As I was coming out of a hallway I saw a small person…middle school person, maybe…coming down the hall. I flattened myself against the wall and recoiled as if this child was a giant spider. THE NOSE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE MASK! I hurried back to my classroom and bathed in hand sanitizer (nifty new dispenser just inside my classroom door). It may have been an overreaction, I grant you, but DANG.

I understand the precautions the school is taking, and am embracing them.

Where are my scrubs?
