I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.

Thomas Jefferson

I have no way of knowing what was on Jefferson’s mind when he wrote this. It struck a chord with me, though. Today there are expected armed protests at all fifty state capitals. “Failure of Imagination” is also a term that has been in my mind this last week. The idea that airliners could be weaponized…who does that? The idea that American citizens, CITIZENS, mind you, could take the actions that have been taken, embraced by other citizens and glorified…who does that? My brain has had some trouble investigating precedence and the history of protests around elections and inaugurations…I keep shying away from the whole issue, because I just can’t want to think about my countrymen and women deciding that violent acts are the answer.

I feel hobbled.
