I was looking for a Benjamin Franklin quote for today. He was there when this Republic was founded, anticipated many of the troubles that might be faced, and was even proactive in trying to avoid some of the troubles. I would like to have a pint with him someday.

I am struggling to accept the images that are on the news this morning after the attack on the Capitol Building yesterday. How has it come to this?

In all my years of being aware of the election process and my role in it, I have never imagined that my countrymen would react this way to an election. I have known since I was a little girl that whoever sat in the Oval Office was Daddy’s boss…you know, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and all. I remember having discussions with Daddy at his kitchen table about the candidates for all types of office. I also remember that Daddy became more passionate and vocal about the candidates he supported after he retired. :) I remember that, once the decision was made and the people decided, Daddy would button himself up. The people have spoken. If your guy didn’t win, okay, redouble your efforts for the next election. In the meantime, you respect the office and the process. How in the world did the wheels fall off so badly this time?

I am just dismayed. Lord have mercy.
