Clara

I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I can stand and feed and nurse them.

Clara Barton

What a badass…it was considered unseemly for a woman, a LADY, that is, to tend to the casualties during wartime…Clara didn’t care…she was wise and she was tenacious and she was not afraid to take generals by the ear (metaphorically) to make sure that policies were in place to keep the soldiers safe.

Today, this week, next week, and for the rest of the semester I want to be more like Clara. The soldiers I am most concerned with are the teachers and staff who are here to keep things moving and to supervise in-person learning. While they can stand and serve these kids…I can stand and feed and nurse their spirits.

I am just so unbelievably proud of my friends as they stand shoulder to shoulder (well, as close as can be with social distancing and all) to take care of these kids. Is it dangerous? Maybe…maybe even likely. But never fear! The teachers are here.

Channeling Clara…
