Resilience
When we tackle obstacles, we find hidden reserves of courage and resilience we did not know we had. And it is only when we are faced with failure do we realise that these resources were always there within us. We only need to find them and move on with our lives.
Tomorrow the first wave of high school and middle school people come back…my friends who will be supervising are prepping (emotionally) for this right now. There is anxiety, but also anticipation…there is mild (and not so) hysteria, but also hope. We have a whole slew of obstacles in front of us…the things we can control have been controlled as far as safety in the classrooms and procedures to ensure limited exposure to others…now we will surrender ourselves to Chaos.
Without a single doubt I know that my friends who enter the breach this week have the resources within them to navigate these strange waters. I know they will be kind (but firm)…I know they will do the very best job that is possible in these circumstances. I also know they will likely be trembling inside. I hope to support them with all of my strength as they blaze the Comeback Trail for us.
And there will be cookies.
