Election Day
Yesterday when I was visiting Nico in downtown, I was a little stunned by the sight of folks boarding up ground-level businesses. I had to pause and think for a minute about why that would be a precaution some would take. Today. Regardless of the outcome of this election, there will be unhappy people. I don’t remember an election time that was so full of tension and threat. Past elections found me voting, and then getting on with my life. Somewhere, somehow, someone has given permission to the universe to respond to things with violence. As a student of history, it seems like things were once handled with more class than they are today. The majority speaks, the side that doesn’t win accepts the decision and starts planning for the next election if they aren’t happy with the results of this one. There was no “your president”…there CAN’T be such a thing in our country…I hope we blow the doors off the record of percentages of voters this time.
What a world, what a world.
