Rain Therapy/Autumnal Equinox

I am powerfully sorry for the folks in the Houston area what with the repeated hammering that they have taken with rain and storms. I am.

But I am nearly frolicking with excitement with the rain we are getting.

One misty, moisty morning

When cloudy was the weather,

I met a little old man

Clothed all in leather.

He began to compliment,

and I began to grin,

‘And how do you do? And how do you do? And how do you do, again?’” (English Nursery Rhyme)

Both of my boys used to giggle when they heard this…maybe because if the weather was such, my mood was lifted.

Not only did Luna and I have a magical walk in the misty rainy morning, but today is the first day of Autumn. I know, living in Texas, that it does not follow that the temperatures will plummet, but for today, this morning, THIS phase of the moon, the weather is cool, the sky is grey, and there is just enough of a tilt of the planet to portend the twenty minutes of Autumn that we are allowed to have here.

‘Tis my favorite, FAVORITE time of year…I am not quite at the level of retail stores that put up their Halloween stuff in July, but next weekend, the October decor comes out of the bins and into my house…there will be pumpkin and spice scented things. I will be making soups and stews…I will haul out my Halloween sweaters/shirts. I used to teach Primary School…I have one for every day of October, of course I do. I am so excited.

I won’t forget my pink stuff, either. I think it is very accommodating of merchants to come up with this “In October We Wear Pink” line…in a Halloween theme! I think I’ll pick up a shirt or two along those lines, too.

But for now…I am rested, my skin and hair are conditioned with fresh rainwater (just walking into the school from the car), and I feel a slow-burning energy deep in my bones.

Best. Therapy. Ever.
