Today

I read in a little devotional book my mom gave me about Today. There are many things that are getting pushed back to when I “have more time.” Some of them can wait, but others not so much. I am working on my diet and exercise…it is slow, sometimes frustrating work, but it is important. I want to be healthy so I can be an active part of the lives of my kids, my family, my students…I also want ice cream, so it is very much a tug-o-war…Today, this minute, I have the upper hand.

Things that can’t wait…visiting (even virtually) the people I love…letting them know I am thinking about them, even if it is just a text. You never know when a random text will be just the thing the receiving person needs. Encouraging people can’t wait. We are all struggling now in some way…letting people know that the learning curve is okay and that it is okay to rest and try again later. Talking to God can’t wait…I know there is a constant channel open, but I need to be more active on that side. Appreciating the things that ARE going well…I need to not focus on that handful of things off of which the wheels are falling…I want to think about the things I HAVE accomplished. Like showering. Little bits of joy that are all around me need to be attended to, as well.

Today, I love you. I hope you are well and can find something to celebrate. If you can’t, reach out and we’ll figure something out.
