Words Have Power

It is so dang easy to get swept up in the pressure of the season. Yes, Christmas is around the corner. Yes, you want to get just the right gift.

I had an inspiration while watching my class take their final today. I know they are tired…wrung out, even. Me. Too. But when they were done and I was bidding them a happy holiday, I asked them to please reach out to their teachers to thank them for the effort of this semester. It might not seem like a big deal to them, but I tell you what…I am combat crawling my way to Friday. It is ALWAYS tough for me to know if I have made a difference in the lives of the kids I’ve taught…I like to think I have…but when one of those kids takes the time to say, “hey, adult human…I see you…I know you’re doing that for me…you’re okay” or words to that effect, I can fly for miles on that.

Please don’t break your brain trying to overthink the holidays this year. It is nutso for everyone. Make sure you verbalize what you’re feeling…that will go so very far toward getting us through the rest of this dumpster fire year.
