Darkness
People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
I am one of the nine people in Texas who actually look forward to the time when our precious planet tilts away from the sun and we have our thirty minutes of “sweater weather”. I have a Christmas sweater for every day in December, and don’t you dare make the mistake of calling them “ugly”. My sweaters are CHARMING…mostly because they were given to me by students and others who love me…so you can’t call such things ugly.
I do understand, however, that the shorter days and what some might call “dreary” weather can take a toll on people. During this season I want to be a light for others who might be struggling to keep their candle lit. I want to help dispel the gloom that troubles folks. I want to bring the sunshine when it is otherwise hidden. I hope for wisdom in figuring out how best to go about that.
It’s time for my second wardrobe change for today…out of the Ho-Ho-Ho sweater vest with the faux fur collar and into the fleece PJs and the Tasmanian Devil slippers. Those cookies won’t bake themselves!
